Currawong Books Press (ABN 47 484 299 533) (we, us, our) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information when you visit www.currawongbookspress.com.au (the Site), subscribe to our newsletter, place an order, or contact us.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for what we do as an independent picture-book publisher. Depending on how you interact with us, this can include:

Newsletter sign-up (The Currawong Letter)

• your email address;
• your first name (optional);
• technical information about your subscription (sign-up date, IP address used at sign-up, confirmation status); and
• email engagement data (whether you open emails or click links).

Purchases and pre-orders

• your name;
• your billing and shipping address;
• your email address and phone number;
• order details (titles, quantities, signed-edition inscription requests); and
• payment information processed by our payment provider — we do not see or store your full card number.

Enquiries and correspondence

• your name and email address;
• any other information you choose to include in your message (for example, postal address for review copies, organisation name for trade enquiries).

Website and device information

• standard server-log information (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, date and time of visit); and
• limited analytics information about how the Site is used, in aggregate.

We collect personal information:

• directly from you, when you fill in a form on the Site, subscribe to The Currawong Letter, place a pre-order, or email us;
• automatically, when you visit the Site (cookies and server logs); and
• from our service providers (for example, our email platform, payment processor, and print-and-fulfilment partner) acting on our behalf.

3. Why we collect and use your personal information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

• to send you The Currawong Letter and other emails you have asked to receive;
• to process and fulfil your orders and pre-orders (including printing, packing, dispatching, and refunding);
• to respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;
• to keep records required for tax, accounting, and consumer-law purposes;
• to improve the Site and our publishing programme;
• to protect the Site from misuse, fraud, and security threats; and
• to comply with our legal obligations.

4. How we store and protect your personal information

Your personal information is held in cloud-based systems run by our service providers (newsletter platform, website host, payment processor, accounting software, and email provider). We choose providers that maintain industry-standard security and that meet our expectations under the APPs.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure — including access controls, encryption in transit, and limiting who at Currawong Books Press can see your information.

We will keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by Australian law.

5. Who we disclose your personal information to

We do not sell your personal information.

We share personal information only with parties who help us run the press, and only to the extent they need it to do their work. These can include:

• our email and newsletter platform;
• our website host and content-delivery provider;
• our payment processor;
• our print-on-demand and distribution partner;
• our shipping carriers;
• our accountant and bookkeeping software;
• our IT, security, and analytics providers; and
• regulators, courts, or law-enforcement agencies, where we are required to do so by law.

Some of our service providers are located overseas (including in the United States and the European Union). Where this is the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your personal information in line with the APPs.

6. Accessing and correcting your personal information

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct any personal information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading; or
• delete your personal information, where we are not required to keep it.

7. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first — email hello@currawongbookspress.com.au with the subject line “Privacy complaint”. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days.

8. Opting out

You can unsubscribe from The Currawong Letter at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing us at hello@currawongbookspress.com.au. We may still send you transactional emails (for example, order confirmations) where they are necessary.
